The Tohoku Times is a weekly newsletter providing news and information relating to Sendai and the Tohoku region in English. It is our aim to provide information that is not readily available in English from other sources. News that is likely to be carried by national newspapers etc will not be covered. In the same way, information on major toursit spots etc that can be easily obtained from other web-sites will generally not be included.
Initially the news and information will be mainly centered on Sendai, but we hope to gradually expand this to provide extensive coverage to all of the prefectures in the Tohoku region.

We offer a translation service (Japanese to English), and an English rewriting and proof reading service, at very reasonable rates. News stories are based on information obtained from public sources such as the home pages of city and prefectural governments and police departments as well as Tohoku Japanese newspapers and television stations. These include the Kahoku Shinpo, Fukushima Minpo, Yamagata Shinbun, Iwate Nippo, Akita Sakigake Shinpo, Daily Tohoku Shinbun, Miyagi Television, Tohoku Broadcasting Corporation
and NHK Sendai.
