Aun (Fusion Japanese) - Nagamachi, Sendai

あうん　長町、仙台

Aun recently changed names and owners. It used to be called King Fun and was a bit of a landmark with a huge billboard featuring a line-up of very serious looking chefs. The old King Fun was famous as a "fusion" restaurant, that is the menu was made up of modern Japanese dishes, greatly influenced by other cuisines, particularly Chinese and South East Asian. The new restaurant carries on this tradition, but also features steak and hamburger dishes. If you like very expensive Japanese steaks, ranging from over 2,000 yen to 3,900 yen, then this is the place for you. However there are lots of other very interesting items as well. Included in these are nasi goreng and taco rice (a mixture of taco like ingredients with rice) which are both very good. At lunchtime they are offer a lunch course for two, for 3,600 yen, which is very good value. It consists of soup, Vietnames rice paper rolls, hamburger, steamed vegetables, spaghetti, taco rice, Chinese steamed buns and also dessert (ice cream with pumpkin pudding). In terms of volume it is more than enough. It would be even better if the coffee was included, but unfortunately that is extra. There is a good drinks menu with cocktails and wine. The interior is quite spacious and has a nice laid back atmosphere. The restaurant is open for lunch and also dinner.

How to get there

By Train

Take a subway to Nagamachi Minami station. It is about a 1.2 kilometer walk from there, so a taxi would be a good idea.

By Car

Take Route 286 towards Nagamachi. After you cross Atago Ohashi keep going and veer right at the Autobacks about a kilometer up the road. Keep going for a few kilometers until you see a Daishin Home Center on the left. Go right at the next traffic lights and the restaurant is on the corner on the left. You can enter the car park from the rear.
